The Avett Bros. is the first album released by the first iteration of The Avett Brothers. It was self released and was made available in 2000. It contains six songs and runs for 20:13.

The album is no longer for sale in physical or digital form.

The EP, sometimes referred to as Downstairs was self recorded during down time of Seth Avett, Scott Avett and John Twomey's main rock band project Nemo. The trio called themselves “The Back Porch Project” or “Nemo Downstairs” until the EP was released. It was recorded in April 2000 and was sold at Nemo and Avett Brothers shows shortly thereafter.

It is likely that this album was burned to a CD-R and self-packaged.
